My First EasterCon
Well here it is, my first ever con report.
Arrived on the Thursday and enjoyed a delicious meal and bumped into many of blazingskies
Friday saw the half that didn't arrive on Thursday, turn up. During the Friday I made an eggy Roj Blake, helped on the front desk at registrations, took part in the 'Live Video Game Charades and won with my team mates, 'The Jolly Gophers'. Had fun in the 'Writing Video Games' panel, then took some time to meet up with my friends, inflatablefish
and my dear blazingskies
and had pizza. After the opening ceremony I went to rest for an hour as my back was starting to play up. Managed to make it to the Blake's 7 drinking game; to which some amusing remarks were made but as the episode was really good(Shadow), most just sat and watched. I arrived to watch the last of the ceilidh then called it a night.
On Saturday I arrived at the gopher hole just in time to realise I was gophering the 2000AD panel and rushed to watch and help out. Helped out on the registration desk for the following hour and then made my way to the autograph signings to help out there. Got dragged away before the second hour started by my beloved blazingskies
as I'd forgotten to give myself time for lunch and time to spend with blazingskies
. After we decided to go to the "Boobs and Biceps" panel which was brilliant. I then spent the rest of the evening in the Commonwealth room helping out for the cabaret and masquerade rehearsal, watching Doctor Who (very good in my opinion), the cabaret and masquerade and then the New Romantics disco.
I didn't actually get up to much on Sunday, but that was alright as I got to hang out in the gopher hole till the EasterCon bid. The bid was amusing and tense, Illustrious 11 got through on a landslide, while Olympus 12 actually had to have the votes counted. After that I mostly hung out with fellow con-goers till Mitch Benn started. I had never seen Mitch Benn and I was glad I got to see him live, he was awesome! Next came the Steampunk ball, which everyone came out to in their finest. The music was ok, the lead singer did seem to drown the rest of the band out though.
Monday I got up early (or at least tried to) and got my luggage into the quiet room, where I spent most of my time till I had to leave. I had fun at the closing ceremony then enjoyed the snacks and drinks left behind for the gophers and in ops. After the mass of goodbyes I made my way back home.
All in all, a very enjoyable EasterCon. Roll on 2011! Current Mood: cheerful
